Because the wastewater treatment facility (Tapia Water Reclamation Facility - TWRF) that serves our region is there to protect public health and the environment, it's important that we each make an effort to only put the wastewater from our sinks, laundry and toilets, including conventional toilet tissue, down the drain.

Anything and everything else can create problems in your home’s sewer pipes, the sewer lines that serve the community, or at TWRF.

To help protect the wastewater system and prevent sewer blockages, DO NOT flush these items down the drain:

• Unused / expired drugs or pharmaceuticals
• Personal flushable wipes (check out this video toilet paper vs wipes), baby wipes or moist towelettes
• Diapers
• Hair
• Plastics, including dental floss
• Bones or other "hard items"
• Fruit and vegetable label stickers
• Nail polish remover
• Cooking fats, oils, grease
• Paint, varnish, mineral oil and turpentine - both oil and water-based
• Petroleum products (oil, gas, kerosene, etc.)
• Anti-freeze and other vehicle coolants
• Fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals
• Paper towels, napkins and facial tissue
• Condoms
• Personal hygiene products, including feminine napkins and tampons
• Cotton balls or swabs
• Deceased pets (hamsters, birds, fish, etc.)
• Pet waste and cat litter
• Cigarettes and other tobacco products
• Coffee grounds
• Sawdust
• Sponges
• Batteries
