(Updated August 2013)

Work has commenced on the construction of a new Biosolids Digester at the Rancho Las Virgenes Composting Facility site, where it will join two similar units that have been in use for more than 20 years.

The new unit will provide a needed addition in the capacity to handle biosolids with the added benefit of energy recovery systems being built into the unit.

A significant portion of the digester will be below the surrounding ground level, as the unit is very heavy and must have a firm foundation.

The new digester is a project of the Las Virgenes – Triunfo Joint Powers Authority that performs wastewater treatment, biosolids composting and recycled water distribution for regional customers.
