The Board of Directors for Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) and the governing Board for the Las Virgenes- Triunfo Joint Powers Authority (JPA) recently adopted a CAAP that will provide a roadmap for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in alignment with State goals. It will also provide guidance for increasing the resilience of critical facilities, infrastructure, services, and resources to climate change impacts. The CAAP identifies specific actions and potential projects that will help LVMWD and the JPA achieve GHG reduction targets, which includes being carbon neutral by the year 2045. One example is the potential installation of up to 15 megawatts of floating solar panels at Las Virgenes Reservoir. The CAAP also reinforces the need to diversify the water supply portfolio via the Pure Water Project Las Virgenes - Triunfo, which will advance treat recycled water and provide up to 30% of drinking water for LVMWD and JPA customers.

Adoption and implementation of a CAAP will help the JPA compete for low-interest loans and grants to fund the Pure Water Project and keep water and sewer rates low.
