Prepare your property and loved ones for a wildfire emergency before the evacuations are ordered.

The area LVMWD serves is considered high fire danger, and many residents here remember the devastation that the 2018 Woolsey Fire brought to our communities.  With the current drought restrictions in place on outdoor watering, many of our customers expressed concerns over their ability to protect their homes in the case of another wildfire.

On Septembver 16, 2023 LVMWD hosted expert author/horticulturalist Douglas Kent to share the strategies that enable custoemrs to protect their family, property, and community. Kent's presentation focuses on structures, defensible space, and the role of plants in fire protection. Watch his presentation below.

On September 7, 2022, LVMWD hosted an informational webinar with expert presentations by State Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin representing the 44th Assembly District, Assistant Chief Drew Smith from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and Clark Stevens, CEO with Resource Conservation District of Santa Monica Mountains will be providing presentations and tips for hardening your homes in preparation of the upcoming wildfire season.  Below you can view the webinar and download the slide presentation.
