ScientistVerticalMuch of the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District service area lies within the Malibu Creek Watershed that includes tributary streams such as Las Virgenes Creek, Medea Creek, Triunfo Creek, Cheesebro Creek, Lindero Creek and others.

LVMWD is just one entity that has a keen interest along with a stewardship role in the watershed. Other participants include the cities along the US 101 corridor, the County of Los Angeles, CalTrans and a number of non-governmental organizations.

From environmentally protective wastewater treatment up through the prudent use of recycled water as a resource, LVMWD with its Joint Powers Authority partner, Triunfo Sanitation District, devote considerable resources toward watershed stewardship that includes the education of residents,  students and visitors in this sensitive watershed, which is a key element in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

In cooperation with other agencies, LVMWD invites you to view “The Clean Water Act and Our Backyards,” a video that explains the role of the Malibu Creek Watershed in our region and the responsibility each of us has in caring for this precious natural asset.
