Firescaping: Protecting your family, home and property from a wildfire with Douglas Kent

Topic: Firescaping: Protecting your family, home and property from a wildfire

Instructor: Douglas Kent

Description: California’s landscapes have been burning for thousands of years. Nothing will change that in the foreseeable future. In fact, just the opposite—our state’s landscapes will burn at greater frequency and ferocity.

Join author/horticulturalist Douglas Kent as he shares the strategies that will enable you to protect your family, your property, and your community. Kent will be focusing structures, defensible space, and the role of plants in fire protection.

Douglas Kent is an activist, educator, and specialist in ecological land management. He is the author of a variety of books, including California Friendly: A Maintenance Guide for Landscapers, Gardeners and Land Managers, and Firescaping: Protecting your home with a fire-resistant landscape. He has been working in California's landscapes for over 40 years and his designs have been featured in numerous publications including the Los Angeles Times, Sunset Magazine, and on HGTV.
